Donating Laptops

For many people in need across Australia, devices like laptops, phones and tablets are out of reach. Consequently, refugees and asylum seekers do not have access to technology; making connections with friends, family and government assistance difficult.

One of our valued clients, Polaron Language Services, often works with disadvantaged communities and they try to help those in need. As part of their efforts, Polaron asked us if we had any high-quality second-hand computers that they could provide to refugees and asylum seekers across Victoria and NSW.

At the time we, were undertaking an equipment refresh project for one of our other clients, the Australasian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group. ALLG generously agreed to donate their old unused laptops.

We happily helped by securely wiping, and resetting the laptops to keep ALLG’s data safe and ensure the devices were ready to be used by others.

Polaron supplied the refurbished laptops to the Refugee Resource Hub in Dandenong and the Jesuit Refugee Services in Sydney. Donating devices makes a great difference in the lives of people in need by allowing access to vital government information, letting children complete important homework, and helping refugees reconnect with their international families.

How You Can Help

There are many ways to help these organisations support those in need. The RRH holds food drives, in addition to a food bank that is open 4 days a week. To learn more information about which items the RRH needs, contact them via email: foodandgoods@asrc.org.au.

Assist JRS’ important work by making cash donations, and donating food and essential items according to their essential items list. As well as this, people are encouraged to volunteer, where you can make a difference in the lives of refugees and asylum seekers.

Beyond these options, Polaron is looking for laptops, mobile phones, and tablets/iPads to give to organisations they support. With this in mind, contact Synapse IT directly at 1300 903 405 or info@itconsultants.com.au to enquire about donating devices.

Supporting Our Community

The Refugee Resource Hub is based in Dandenong in Melbourne’s south-eastern suburbs. The organisation offers support services that allow Melbourne’s refugees and asylum seekers to access important aid. At the RRH, people can access material aid, healthcare, legal aid, food banks, employment services and community services.

Polaron also supports the Jesuit Refugee Service based in Sydney, NSW. The JRS provides vital support through food drives, employment and financial assistance, specialist casework, and community support.

Polaron Language Services is an organisation that specialises in providing important language support through translations, interpretations, language resources and engagement resources. Polaron also provides help with gaining EU citizenships, simplifying an often complicated process.

ALLG (Australasian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group) strives to improve the lives and standard of treatment of those struggling with blood cancers by orchestrating leading clinical trials across Australia and New Zealand. The ALLG has been benefitting people diagnosed with blood cancer for over 50 years.
