There’s no denying that avoiding digital distractions is something easier said than done. With most of us being connected to the internet 24/7, it is often difficult to switch off and take a break from our digital lives.

While this may be the case, Daniel Sieberg, Author of “The Digital Diet,” states that taking a real vacation from your digital life is one of the most restorative things you can do for yourself.

If you need a true escape from all things digital, take a look at the list below where you can find four places which have the world’s worst internet- making them the perfect destinations to escape digital distractions.

American Samoa, U.S. Pacific Territories

Home to the “most expensive Internet in America,” the South Pacific U.S. territory of American Samoa is mostly a connection-free oasis. While there are several Internet cafes on the island of Savai’i in the nearby Independent State of Samoa, internet connection is hard to come by in most locations, making it the perfect destination to switch off.

Sahara Desert, Africa

Unsurprisingly, most of the Sahara Desert’s vast expanse is internet-free. While this may be no surprise, most of the popular parts of the desert which are most frequented by tourists on the Moroccan side, are also connection- free.

Black Forest, Germany

While internet access has become more prominent in recent years, there are still a number of dwellings in the more rural parts of the Black Forest which do not have access to the internet.

British Island of Tristan de Cunha

Don’t expect to get a signal at any point on your tip to Tristan da Cunha, a U.K. territory that’s also one of most remote inhabited islands on earth. Located 1,750 miles off the coast of South Africa and with a population of just 301, there’s no mobile phone network to be found on the active volcanic island. You can, however, track down Internet for a small fee at the island’s one Internet Cafe, but don’t expect much from the 1Mbps connection.
